A distinctive vintage French wall-mounted coffee grinder, featuring a cream-glazed ceramic reservoir decorated with a burgundy geometric border and stylised CAFÉ lettering, mounted above a red-painted metal grinding mechanism.
The wooden mounting board bears the DALTO label, a name associated with vintage French coffee grinders. DALTO is documented among the brands under which Peugeot-manufactured grinders were distributed. The grinding mechanism is attributed to Peugeot Frères, while the ceramic reservoir is believed to have been manufactured by Sarreguemines, the renowned French faience producer.
Originally designed for wall-mounted use, this charming piece now makes an attractive decorative accent for a French country kitchen, café-inspired interior or collection of vintage household objects.
Condition
Good vintage decorative condition, with age-related wear throughout. The cream ceramic reservoir retains its burgundy decoration, with minor marks, staining and glaze crazing, particularly near the base. The red-painted mechanism shows some paint wear, and the iron crank has visible surface rust. The wooden components show signs of age, while the glass collecting container has surface scratches.
The grinding mechanism has not been inspected or tested. Offered for decorative use only, with no guarantee of functionality or suitability for food preparation.
