Elegant pair of Art Deco dog bookends signed Jamar, likely dating to the Art Deco period (circa 1925–1935).

The figures depict seated dogs with streamlined proportions and subtly stylized anatomy, characteristic of interwar animalier sculpture. The sculptures are executed in spelter with a dark bronze-toned patina and mounted on original veined marble bases.

This model reflects the Art Deco period’s emphasis on balance, sobriety, and sculptural clarity, making the pair suitable for both functional use as bookends and decorative display on shelving or a desk.

The signature “Jamar” is visible on the paw of each figure.

Condition
Good overall vintage condition. One dog presents a stable crack and a very small loss (approx. 0.078 in / 2 mm) to the spelter on the underside of the belly. The marble base of the other bookend shows minor edge wear. Patina wear consistent with age.
