An original early 20th-century French magazine cover featuring an elegant Art Nouveau composition by Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939), one of the defining artists of the Belle Époque.

Published as the cover of L'Habitation Pratique in April 1907, this period lithograph captures Mucha's distinctive decorative language through flowing lines, botanical ornamentation, architectural details and an idealised female figure.

Against a soft yellow background, a graceful woman holds an elaborate architectural model, surrounded by foliage and the silhouettes of buildings. Two small circular architectural views complete the composition. Below, the title L'Habitation Pratique appears in striking, stylised Art Nouveau lettering.

The illustration bears Mucha's signature and the date 1903 within the printed design.

An Original Piece of French Publishing History
L'Habitation Pratique was a French monthly architectural publication issued by the Librairie de la Construction Moderne in Paris.

Mucha's celebrated cover design was used across multiple issues of the magazine during the early 20th century. This particular example is identifiable by the printed date “Avril 1907” along the lower margin.

Unlike a modern decorative reproduction, this is an original period magazine cover. Its reverse retains contemporary advertisements for French publications concerning building legislation, school construction, architectural finishes and construction techniques.

These surviving advertisements are an important part of the sheet's historical character and document its original publishing context.

Condition
Very good antique decorative condition overall, considering its age.

The composition remains clear and attractive, with well-defined dark printed lines and a warm yellow background. There is visible, age-related toning to the paper, including some darkening towards the margins, together with minor surface marks and handling wear.

The reverse displays further age-related discolouration and the original printed advertisements.

The cover is offered unframed and has not been restored.
