A distinctive French mid-century ceramic catch-all, signed Borty Vallauris, circa 1960.
Handcrafted in an expressive, asymmetrical form, this generously sized piece features a warm, speckled terracotta-orange glaze decorated with bold abstract geometric motifs in turquoise, mustard yellow, burgundy and black. Fine white incised lines add texture and definition, while the raised, irregular rim gives the piece its sculptural character.
Both decorative and functional, it makes a striking centrepiece on a coffee table, console or sideboard, or an elegant catch-all for everyday objects.
