A striking and evocative suite of nine original lithographs attributed to André Brasilier (born 1929), entitled Destin cruel, published in 1972 and printed by the celebrated Ateliers Mourlot in Paris, according to the accompanying certificate of authenticity from Galerie ART.PARIS.
Executed in a restrained palette of deep black, soft charcoal grey and vivid orange, these nine compositions unfold like scenes from a visual narrative. Expressive faces, solitary figures, intimate encounters and atmospheric landscapes evoke a world of emotion, mystery and theatrical contrast.
Nine Lithographs, One Visual Story
Each composition possesses its own character, yet the nine works form a compelling and cohesive ensemble.
The imagery moves between intimate portraits and dramatic scenes: a woman with closed eyes, dark silhouettes of trees, a contemplative female profile, a red-haired figure, a solitary person beneath a cross, a reader in a rocking chair, an architectural balcony scene and a tender embrace.
The recurring black-and-orange colour scheme brings unity to the series, while the expressive brushwork, simplified forms and generous use of negative space lend the prints a distinctly modern sensibility.
Presented together, the nine sheets create a particularly engaging gallery-wall installation, whether arranged in a traditional three-by-three grid or displayed in a more personal configuration.
Printed by Mourlot, Paris
The accompanying gallery certificate identifies the works as nine original lithographs printed in 1972 on vélin paper by the Ateliers Mourlot in Paris.
Founded in the nineteenth century, the Mourlot printing house became internationally renowned for its fine-art lithography, working with many of the twentieth century's leading artists.
The lithographic process allows the artist's drawn marks, painterly textures and subtle tonal variations to be translated into printed form, qualities particularly evident in the expressive black areas and vibrant orange accents of this suite.
Condition and Authenticity
The nine prints are presented unframed and appear to be in very good overall condition, with clean margins and well-preserved printed imagery. Minor age-related marks or handling traces may be present.
The reverse of the sheets is unprinted, with some faint show-through of the imagery visible.
The set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Galerie ART.PARIS, identifying the title, artist, original lithographic technique, publication year, printer and paper.
The sheets are not represented as individually hand-signed or numbered.
