About Accolay
The Accolay pottery workshop was founded in Burgundy, France, in 1945 by André Boutaud, Louis Dangon, Slavik Paley, and Raudé, following their training under ceramist Alexandre Kostanda. Known for bold experimentation, richly textured glazes, and modernist silhouettes, Accolay pieces were widely appreciated for their strong decorative presence and their role in the renewal of French studio pottery after World War II. In its early years, Accolay also produced ceramic jewelry and accessories that were notably used by Christian Dior for his “New Look” collections, before gaining international recognition for its distinctive mid-century studio pottery.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor variations and surface nuances in the glaze are inherent to handcrafted ceramics and consistent with age.
